Is Residential Artificial Grass Right for You?

To Turf or Not to Turf
It generally takes 10 to 20 years to recover your investment in synthetic turf in saved lawn maintenance costs.  For this reason alone, most homeowners will NOT buy synthetic turf to save money - simply because it takes too long to recover their investment.

Also, if you prefer natural grass and absolutely despise the idea of plastic grass, you'll probably not choose artificial grass unless you have one or more of the following needs below..

Reasons to Buy Synthetic TurfYou should consider synthetic grass if you answer yes to one or more of the following questions:

  • Do you have kids / dogs destroying your lawn?
  • Do you have constant mud outside and inside your home (drawn in by your kids / dogs)?
  • Do you have perpetual dead grass (at best), related to your dog, kids or an urban environment (such as a high-traffic grass area in a public way)?
  • Are you constantly replacing your lawn (for one of the two above reasons or for other reasons)?
  • Do you want a maintenance-free lawn? Again, usually not reason enough alone to buy synthetic grass, but is usually a consideration when combined with one or more of the reasons above.

Again, it typically takes 10 to 20 years to recover your investment in synthetic lawn by avoiding maintenance costs. For most, artificial grass is simply not worth the expense -- just to save money.
However, if you have one or more of the conditions above, a synthetic residential grass my be an attractive option.
